Beachy babes love Miss Trish, designer Trish Carroll's colorful tribute to the charmled life of living seaside. Carroll started off her career honing her skills as an accessory designer for Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren, but today she has her own collection called Miss Trish. When she stopped by Dadeland Mall’s Nordstrom to promote her gorgeous spring/summer 2012 collection yesterday, she chatted us up about the madness of Ultra, why her clients are black belts shoppers, her Target collection, and why Miami rules (duh).

We overhead you saying you couldn’t get a hotel because of Ultra?

"Yes, three days ago we decided to make a reservation. We were calling frantically and surfing the internet. Finally, we got a hotel by the airport. We knew in advance that we were coming, but it
was poor planning. We’ve learned our lesson."

What are you wearing today?
"I’m wearing Nannette Lepore top and pants. I love it
because it’s colorful. The necklace is vintage and from Golyester in Los Angeles. I
love shopping vintage from all over and for inspiration."

Speaking of vintage, are there any shops in Miami you like?
"I love shopping vintage
in Miami. It’s fantastic. The vintage is so good here. Women dress up and they are
glamorous so you find so much. I like crazy cocktail dresses, prints, color, and appliques.
My favorite is C.Madeleine’s."

How would you describe your summer 2012 line?
"There’s a lot of color. There’s
a touch of neon. There’s flip flops, wedges and sandals, all in about 20 different
patterns. There’s something for everyone from the sparkle girl to the Palm Beach girl to
the Newport girl."

Who is your clientele?
"My customers are black belt shoppers. They want something
interesting and new. Women love footwear and they want to collect it. They don’t want to say, 'I spent all my money and I’m eating rice and beans like Sex and The City.'"

Are there plans to do another Target collection?
"I probably won’t do another even
though I love the store and learned so much from the collaboration. It’s really
about bringing in something new. I shop there. Just the other day, I bought a pair of
leopard print jeans by Vanilla Star two days ago. I wore them to the office with neon sneakers without laces and an Alexander McQueen jacket."
