A Not-Embarrassing Mexican Joint Opens South Of Fifth

We’re not gonna lie: We miss Nemo. But once we heard that a tequila bar was opening in the now defunct Italian restaurant’s former space, our loyalty began to sway. No, they didn’t give us free shots. But that wouldn't have hurt either.
Welcome Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, a new Mexican joint serving up agave-infused cocktails and authentic dishesin the South of Fifth neighborhood — starting tomorrow. What makes this spot different from the slew of birthday-celebrating, sombrero-adorned eateries we already have around here is the fact that it’s beautiful. The space actually features subtle lighting, masculine furniture, and red velvet touches — giving it more of a sophisticated ambiance than a South Of The Border feel.

The menu has plenty of shareable options (pulled pork tacos, ahi tuna tostada, beer batter green beans) and large plates, too (carne asada, filet mignon). Drinks range from a variety of margaritas (obvi) to sangria and fruity cocktails. Plus, there’s a whole menu dedicated to tequila ranging in flavors from oak to gentle vanilla and cream. Um, yeah, we’ll need to sample a few of those before we make up our minds.
