The Foodies Behind Phuc Yea Bring You A New Prohibition-Themed Spot

For those of you still mourning the closing of Phuc Yea, boy do we have some exciting news for you. The gang behind the pop-up Vietnamese resto — Anièce Meinhold, Alejandro Ortiz, and Cesar Zapata — are back. And they’re here to stay.

But instead of serving mackerel crudo, crispy beef bits, and cassava fritters, the trio will be serving American classics at its new eatery dubbed The Federal Food, Drink, and Provisions. Already affectionately known as The Fed, the Upper East Side joint is schedule to open in about two weeks in a dimly-lit strip mall on Biscayne and 51st Street. An L-shaped bar made of salvaged wood will serve as the centerpiece for the space, while an array of quirky items on the walls will undoubtedly serve as conversation pieces.

But what you really want to know about is, of course, the food. Zapata created a menu designed to be shared, and it’s divided into seven odd categories (Bits, Potted Stuffs, Ham ‘n Cheese, Small Shares, Pot Pies, Big’uns, & Then Some, and Sweetums), but we’re sure it’ll all start making sense once you’re breaking bread. Oh, you want specifics? Well, you can expect to find crispy pig ears, biscuits & gravy, slow-cooked duck, and sticky buns. At the bar, things will remain patriotic with a rotating list of 25 domestic craft beers and 60 selections of wine. We'll drink to that!
