No More Guessing: Carine Roitfeld’s Next Gig Is At Barneys

She's not headed to Dior, Tom Ford, or Bazaar nor cooking up her own magazine—the ex-Editor in Chief of Vogue Paris is headed to Barneys New York to serve as guest editor/stylist/muse for their fall projects. Collaborating with Mario Sorrenti, Carine Roitfeld will style and edit Barneys' ad campaigns, catalogs, and windows that'll be pushed out at the end of the summer. “For me, Barneys has always been the biggest name in luxury department stores, so to be able to participate in this project with them, and be visible during the next fashion week in New York, is my dream come true,” says Carine. For a woman who was reportedly canned for pissing off advertisers and not being able to relate to the real female consumer, this move into retail seems—to us—a little less than sound. But, we're excited to see Barney's experiment with higher-level fashion—let's see where this goes! (WWD)
