When we were 12, we're pretty sure we were rocking out Gap Kids or Limited Too. Not so for precocious protégé Elle Fanning—last night the starlet wore head-to-toe Rodarte at the New York premiere of her new movie
Somewhere
, for a getup that's both fashion-forward and age-appropriate at the same time. Fanning may have gotten the 'Darte advice from her sister Dakota, another sartorially clued in child-star who chooses Valentino more oft than not for her red carpet looks. More probable? Sage style words from Sofia Coppola, the fashion icon who both wrote and directed Somewhere, a film centering on Stephen Dorff as a hard-living actor trying to readjust his life after a surprise visit from his daughter, played by Fanning (for more outfit inspiration, there's lots of scenes at the Chateau Marmont, plus cameos from models Jessica Miller, Angela Lindvall, and Erin Wasson). In any case, Fanning, who has another four pictures in the work (lots more red-carpet moments, yay!), has immediately put herself on Vanity Fair's "Best-Dressed List," radar: She paired a Rodarte tan suede and gold leather embossed dress with Rodarte white see-through socks, and, for that extra kick, Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte metallic gold embossed wedge heels. Having the Mulleavy sisters on speed dial definitely breaks that whole Us Weekly "Stars: They're Just Like Us," thing. Umm, we wore BCBG to our 8th grade formal...just sayin.'
