We almost broke a hip the one and only time we attempted to mount a skateboard. Perhaps it was because we didn't quite look the part when we first tried to "gleam the cube." But we're tempted to climb on a deck again thanks to the latest Vans, designed by Number (N)ine's Takahiro Miyashita, which are just straight gnarly (do the kids still say that?). After creating a few Vans Old Skool styles for himself on the brand's website, Miyashita decided to team up with the shoemaker and marry his Fair Isle canvas pattern, lifted from his own spring/summer collection of cashmere knits, to the iconic board shoe. The end result, sold exclusively at Number (N)ine, is a comfortable, eye-catching canvas classic perfect for grinding, crashing, and burning.
