After prying our feet out of those killer heels and allowing our eyes to adjust post-camera flash blitz, we often find ourselves dwelling on the frenzied madness of fashion week, which is why we're loving photographer Marcus Bleasdale's lovely backstage snaps from the Fall '09 shows, featured in New York Magazine's "Exquisite Circus." Shot throughout fashion's three-ring circus of Paris, New York, and Milan, the hectic vibe is definitely discernible, with steady hands reaching out to expertly apply a cat eye on Anna Selezneva at Marc Jacobs and smooth the hair of a porcelain-faced Hanne Gaby Odiele, pre-Viktor & Rolf runway walk. Still, a quiet beauty underlies the mad rush, casting the catwalkers as poised and seasoned performers in their own right—reminding us all over again why we jump through hoops to take part in the craziness.
