After releasing last year's superb insta-classic good kid, m.A.A.d city, Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar is taking the record on tour. Tuesday's NYC stop has K.Dot playing not once, but TWICE tomorrow night at the Roseland Ballroom. It's a must-see event for any fan of contemporary hip-hop, with double the convenience.
Tuesday, February 26, 6 and 9:30 p.m., Roseland Ballroom, 239 West 52 Street (between Broadway and 8th Avenue); 212-257-0200.
R&B crooner Autre Ne Veut (Brooklyn's Arthur Ashin) has a fantastic new record coming out titled Anxiety (don't worry, it's actually a pretty calming listen). To celebrate the release he'll be headlining Santos Party House along with emotionally charged Canadian pop dude Majical Cloudz.
Wednesday, February 27, 7:30 p.m. Santos Party House, 96 Lafayette Street (between Walker and White streets); 212-584-5492.
It's a fantastic lineup of electronic music Saturday night at LPR with some of the best new producers in the business. Leading up to Dublab founder Daedelus is Salva, whose music runs the gamut from trap-leaning club tracks to '90s jungle homages. Also on the bill is Ryan Hemsworth, whose recent remixes of Rhye and Mikky Ekko approach pop perfection.
Saturday, March 2, 11 p.m., (le) Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker Street (between Thompson and Sullivan streets); 212-353-3474.
