Beirut, Little Scream: Rumsey Playfield, August 29, $32
Everyone’s favorite Balkan-inspired crooner is back with a late-summer show at Rumsey Playfield. While this may be one of your last trips to Central Park for a concert this season, we can’t think of a better way to usher out August than with Zach Condon’s lilting vocals and nostalgic storytelling.
Wednesday, August 29, 6 p.m., Rumsey Playfield, 69th St at Fifth Ave; No Phone.
Ekstasis, Julia Holter’s second album, is a miracle of musical craftsmanship. Just listening to the record can be a transportative experience, with Holter’s arrangements taking the listener to far off, nearly magical landscapes. In live setting, Holter has a similarly transfixing effect, and it’s not to be missed.
Friday, August 31, 8 p.m. Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street (between Bowery and Chrystie); 212-533-2111.
