Frankie Rose, DIVE, Night Manager, The Knitting Factory, $12
Today is the release party for Frankie Rose’s new album Interstellar (one of our favorites of the new year), and will see Rose joined by fellow Brooklynites DIVE and Night Manager at the The Knitting Factory. A great evening of three spacey, shoegazey guitar bands at one low price.
Tuesday, February 21, 7 pm, The Knitting Factory, 361 Metropolitan Avenue (between Havemeyer and Marcy avenues), Brooklyn; 347-529-6696.
Sharon Van Etten, Bowery Ballroom, $20
Sharon Van Etten plays three shows this week — Friday at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, followed by two shows at the Bowery Ballroom. The soulful, angelically voiced singer is a sonic tour de force in any live setting, and these shows are highly recommended.
Saturday and Sunday, February 25 and 26, 7 p.m., Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street (between Bowery and Chrystie); 212-533-2111.
Björk, Roseland Ballroom, $75
After finishing her string of Biophilia Live performances at the New York Hall of Science, Björk now takes her show to the more tradition venue of the Roseland Ballroom. Should be a fantastic setting to hear (and, perhaps more importantly, see) the multimedia experience that her enormous Biophilia production has become.
Wednesday and Saturday, February 22 and 25, 8 p.m., Roseland Ballroom, 239 West 52 Street (between Broadway and 8th Avenue); 212-257-0200
