You might not be surprised to learn that the goodies offered at Of a Kind are, well, one of a kind. Or 30 or 40 of a kind, but you get the picture — each week a different designer offers up something special they've made just for the site, in limited-edition batches ranging from five to 50 pieces. Plus, you even get the scoop on what makes them tick, whether it's looking ad dumplings for inspiration or finding out how they went from being a big-time lawyer to the latest It designer. This Thursday and Friday the Of a Kind gang is taking their online show on the road with a can't-miss sample sale, featuring 28 of the city's best designers — like Timo Weiland, Fay Andrada, Mary Meyer, Elizabeth Knight, Cold Picnic, SFK, Yestadt Millinery, and more. If you're thinking you don't have room in your closet for any more stuff, you don't even have to worry about that: the sale is also going to include a clothing drive to benefit the Salvation Army, so be sure to bring a few items of gently-used clothing to donate (and finally get around to that spring cleaning out while you're at it). With a sale as good as this, trust us — you're going to need some more shelf room.
