The Eye-Opening Liner Trick You NEED To See

Forget what you've heard. Ombré is not on its way out — unlike your crazy printed trousers. The trend's roots can be traced back to supermodels wearing the root-to-tip gradient during the aughts well before the masses jumped on board. And, you know it didn't stop there. The two-toned look inevitably worked its way down to nails, lips, brows, and even eyelashes, making the shade-fade a total rinse-and-repeat look from your head down. Just when we thought there wasn't anything left to ombré, we spotted a blue-and-white fade not as a cat-eye but on the lower waterline at several spring 2015 shows. Now, we're seeing the boldest of colors on the face's smallest real estate on the streets of New York, and of course, we're going to share the skinny on how to wear the look yourself.

Makeup artist Ashleigh Ciucci suggests "drying" your waterline by rolling a soft cotton swab over your lower lashline, so the eyeliner can go on smooth and be true to color. Next, use a super-pigmented gel pencil, like COVERGIRL Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus in Aquamarine on the outer two-thirds of your waterline. Then, use a white pencil, like COVERGIRL Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Crystal Flame on the inner third, making sure you blend the two colors together to get that ombré effect.
If you're not a fan of blue, you can use any other color on the outside — just stick with a white pencil on the inside to ensure your eyes pop. It has the same eye-opening effect as dabbing a shimmery shadow in the inner corner of your eyes. Keep the rest of your makeup clean with some lip balm and a smidge of blush. Now, get ready to make everyone look twice all season long.
