Your Awesome (Slightly Insane) Saturday Plans: The Best Picture Showcase

oscar-slide
It's almost Oscar time, and we're pretty stoked about the entries in this year's contest (albeit a little bit torn between George, Owen, and Brad). This means it's almost time for another favorite tradition: marathon viewings of all the nominated films, so that we're fully in the loop and our Oscar ballots can be taken seriously. (Hey, some of those pools are pretty sweet!)
To help us out, AMC Theatres hosts the Best Picture Showcase, a two-day screening series of all nine nominated flicks. On Saturday, a $30 pass gets you access to four films (War Horse, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, and The Descendants); next Saturday, you can catch the remaining five (Hugo, The Help, The Artist, Midnight in Paris, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close) with a $40 pass. Theaters in Gaithersburg, Arlington, and Alexandria are hosting the daylong showings, while the Georgetown AMC will host a 24-hour marathon of all nine films next Saturday — you know, if you're the procrastinating type.
