Love a hot cup of tea or a hearty, comforting dinner on a cold day? Then you'll be psyched to check out the Park Hyatt Washington's Masters of Food & Wine series on Saturday evening. From 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., settle into the hotel's tea cellar for a tasting of rare Pu-erh teas with certified tea master Rodrick Markus in a private, intimate setting. The $45 tasting follows an educational seminar on Markus' premier winter tea blends, so you'll get the inside scoop on each extra-special blend before you sip.
Not a tea lover? Not to worry — the Masters of Food & Wine program includes two additional offerings that are sure to whet your appetite. From 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., there's a small-group cooking class with Blue Duck Tavern chef de cuisine John Melfi, where you'll gather in the restaurant's open kitchen and learn how to make cassoulet using fresh, local winter ingredients. Afterward, you can kick back in the dining room and enjoy your handiwork, along with a selection of wines. The event costs $175 and includes the cooking course, dinner, and wine. From 5:30 to 7 p.m., sample flights of local winter brews from Port City Brewing Company, which will be paired with seasonal treats from Blue Duck Tavern. All-inclusive tickets are $45.
