Combine the words 'one-of-a-kind' with 'jewelry', and throw in a dash of 'limited-availability' and 'spunky design' and you have yourself a surefire must-have (remember those Louis Vuitton Murakamis?). It's no surprise that Giles & Brother designer Philip Crangi is privy to this infallible combination—for his new project the designer created quirky necklaces using vintage glass beads from Africa strung onto classic ball-and-chain strands to resemble a snake vertebrae of the
rainbow. According to Mr. Crangi, "Each bead is like a little gem... the colors look amazing on a tan—it's the perfect accessory for the beach." If you can see yourself layering the strands of brightly-hued, stacked beads over lightweight summer basics, or wearing one for a subtle pop (guys, there's a men version too!), head to Philip Crangi's store, The Crangi Family Project, where the necklaces are exclusively available for prices ranging from $55-$75, which makes the gotta have 'em pieces dangerously close to a cheap thrill!
The Crangi Family Project, 9 9th Avenue (between Little West 12th and
13th streets); 212-929-0858.
