The ultimate summertime dressing conundrum goes something like this: The forecast is hot, muggy, and there is almost certainly rain on the way. Of course, that's on the one day you've got epic outdoor plans, which leaves you rethinking putting on clothes at all, much less debuting anything new. Sound familiar, Pitchfork attendees?
Despite last weekend's weather-related snafus — at one point Union Park was evacuated due to a tornado watch — Chicagoans powered through to celebrate the fest's 10th anniversary in stylish form. And, when we weren't getting down to Chance the Rapper, Jamie xx, and Vic Mensa, we, along with H&M, found ourselves style stalking the crowd to see just how daring the mud-trekking festivalgoers got. We're happy to report that we came away with some pretty solid evidence that Chi-town is a badass center of excellent, edgy taste. Translation: Next time the mercury hits 93 and the humidity 93%, keep this fashionable inspo from Chicago's finest on deck.

We definitely found our Pitchfork outfit MVP. Replicate the downtown look with all-black everything, starting with a moto vest, bustier, and high-waisted shorts. Bonus points if you can round up some rad pins like this chick.
Props to this Pitchfork attendee for daring to wear all white to a summer mud pit. If a lace bodysuit and sheer maxi are too much for your taste, a white frock with lace detailing has the same effect. And, don't forget about dark booties to conceal any dirt stains.
Give tie-dye a whole new vibe by pairing it with an edgy maxi-skirt. Here, the sheer lace on the bottom helps a festivalgoer stay cool, and the knotted hem keeps her graphic V-neck from falling flat.
This gal's bright-red skirt stood out in the sea of black and white. Punch up the feminine pleats and A-line silhouette with a mock-neck crop top, then finish the look with platform sandals and statement shades.
If you're a minimalist, keep things simple with a loose tank tucked into a circle skirt. The results are flattering, put-together, and appear effortless. Of course, we recommend topping it off with a refreshing ice pop, because, why the heck not?
