If there's one thing we are over here at Refinery29 S.F., it's fashion-app-happy (ahem, peep here if you don't believe us), and the latest style-meets-tech mashup that's caught our attention is that of Menlo Park-based app Poshmark. In essence, the free iPhone app, which officially launched last week, allows users to clean out their closets by snapping pictures of items they want to get rid of and posting them on an Instagram-like stream (there's even a glam custom filter) for friends to view and, ideally, buy instantly.
Each time you snap a photo of an item (either modeled on yourself or propped up on something), the app will prompt you to name the item and its brand, list the price you bought it at and the price you're selling it at, and the size (when valid). Then, folks can comment, "heart", and purchase your castaways (Poshmark will send a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label to make it easy on ya). Plus, to help propell it all forward, the company hosts Posh Parties, which are essentially virtual events with themes (Holiday Sparkles, Designer Handbags) to help organize and inspire your Poshmark-ing experience. Want to try it out? Tonight's as good a night as any, especially thanks to a Bold Accessories party thrown by Stylecomb blogger and R29SF's very own tech-savvy intern, Klassy Goldberg. Check it at 8 p.m. tonight. Now, who's ready to do some early spring cleaning?
