With the combined savvy of former fashion editor and style icon Lauren Santo Domingo and ex-Gilt.com VP Aslaug Magnusdottir, there was no question that Moda Operandi wouldn't be able to score A-List designers. But, we're giving the M'O gals a round of applause for their latest coup—Isabel Marant. The designer is notoriously wary of e-commerce, and when her clothes do hit the world wide web, they're gone faster than you can say Paris. So, if your bank account is way in the black, you can now shop and pre-order as much or as little of Marant's fall '11 collection as you want (we're seriously considering that $1,348 deposit on the leather quilted vest). LSD is equally thrilled at the Marant madness, telling us, “We’re very excited to offer some of our favorite pieces from the Isabel Marant collection...She’s exactly the kind of designer we had in mind when we launched Moda Operandi." And don't worry about beating the fash-pack to swipe your credit card—Santo Domingo says that "the genius of pre-ordering on Moda Operandi is that there is no inventory to run out of and members are guaranteed to get their favorite pieces in their size." We played around with the site today (their it-girl employees include Hayley Bloomingdale, Stephanie La Cava, and Devon Radziwill), and we're agreeing with Lauren, it is pretty genius. Now if only we didn't have to wait until July to get our good...did we mention Nina Ricci goes on sale Wednesday?!
While Moda is members only, readers who aren’t already members can apply for membership here.
