Project Runway
finalists often go the way of America's Next Top Model winners, (ie: nowhere). But Season two contestant Daniel Vosovic is hoping he can pull a Nicole Cox (who broke the Tyra curse and snagged a McQueen campaign) and become one of the first PR winners who isn't known for..uh, Project Runway. His debut fall '10 line, featuring tailored jackets, "carrot-tops" pants with kissing seams, and, according to him, digitally printed satine, will show at Exit Art tomorrow. Because he was always our favorite, we got an exclusive first look at the collection plus a Q&A with the designer who dishes on Nina, Paris Hilton, and crack.
Check it out after the break!
It's been a while since the show--what have you been up to since then?
"Building a foundation for this day. Let's hope it all pays off and continues to grow from here!"
What's the theme of the new collection?
"My concept began by observing the effects of time and the elements on various statues and sculptures, and exploring the notion of creative destruction. My original prints and embroideries were derived from studying the aging process of oxidized copper, broken marble, and other materials in various stages of transformation."
Who is the Daniel Vosovic girl? Who are you designing for?
"A forward thinker, a girl who is confident and appreciates bold design."
What's your fave piece from the collection?
"Oxidized cotton sateen Crack pant."
Crack?
"Crack."
Who was scarier, Michael Kors or Nina Garcia?
"Nina...but her scariness is because she's straightforward and direct. Some people find that intimidating, I just find it refreshing."
