Quiksilver's new fall collection has San Francisco written all over it! And, specifically, San Francisco's hip Outer Sunset district and one of the nabe's residents, Serena Mitnik-Miller, an artist and co-owner of Judah Street shop General Store.
"After countless trips back to the Outer Sunset to get to know Serena and her craft, we dug into her closet for inspiration, and her studio for prints and patterns," explains John Moore, QSW's head designer, of his collaboration with the local lady. "We borrowed her favorite vintage pieces and re-imagined them for our autumn collection, and instead of borrowing artwork that Serena had already created, she demanded on creating brand-new pieces for Quiksilver and QSW. We also uncovered some vintage treasures around her house and studio that would become inspiration for the thoughtful details — the perfect zipper, hand-made paper, and nautical rope — that define the collections. In Serena, we found a muse and a curator."
What that all boils down to in a sartorial sense is a group of t-shirts featuring Mitnik-Miller's dreamy watercolor paintings, cozy-cool blanket cardigans and campfire throws, upgraded sweats, worn-in jeans and polka-dot denim, and much more.
