Responding to media comments that his own vision might be too androgynous, minimalist, and counter to the Dior aesthetic, former Jil Sander's creative director Raf Simons assured WWD that he's still the best man for the job.
He said, "When I'm married to a house, I will fully embrace its original intention, its original heritage and meaning. […] I wouldn't go to that place [Dior] if I only had minimalism in mind. I'm very aware of what the environment is about." Simons went on to mention his love of flora and the outdoors (as evident in his blossom-packed fall '11 show) as well as femininity, because it's "beautiful, endless, and permanent" (to wit, his fall '12 show was a romantic, if not simple affair).
