10 footwear styles for making a splash this fall. By Christene Barberich & Piera Gelardi
Necessity is the mother of invention. So, when we received not one, not three, but 12 requests over the last few months for good-looking shoes for guys to wear in the rain (not simply Old shoes they no longer cared about), we gladly rose to the challenge. The first thought to emerge: Guys don't wear galoshes in the city. Have you ever seen one? We haven't. And there's definitely a reason for that. Hence, we knew we had to unearth exceptional styles that used fabric and water-proof treatments in a modern, fashionable way.
The good news is we found plenty of puddle-friendly possibilities—tapered zip-up boots from SWIMS have an almost Dandy refinement; rubberized Chucks from John Varvatos are tailored for the traditionalist who still wants to keep his feet dry; while Common Projects nylon training boots are chic enough to wear on sunny and stormy days alike. Yes, those big scary clouds will continue to roll in, and even if you're making a run for the next awning, we'll make sure you definitely look good doing it.
