It was easy to root against Rose Byrne when she was playing Helen in Bridesmaids (Like, did you seriously get tickets for you and Lillian to go to Paris? Really?), but in reality it's sort of impossible to dislike the Australian actress. Yes, she is almost impossibly chic and wears a wavy bob better than just about anyone in Hollywood, but she's also personable and more than willing to share her style and beauty tips. We caught up with the actress at the film festival Tropfest New York (where she was a judge) to talk summer fashion, beauty, and entertainment.

You look great! How did you put together your outfit tonight?
"Thank you! I just got back from Europe last night and my stylist, Penny Lovell, sent me a bunch of things because I have to do a lot of press this week, so I literally just threw this on."
What designers do you normally gravitate towards?
"I have a pretty diverse range I love Christian Cota. He always does such beautiful things. Valentino is amazing. But honestly, I'm usually wearing something from Topshop or Urban Outfitters. I'm very low-key. I love second hand. I love vintage."
What are your favorite things to do when you're in the city?
"I just got back and I absolutely love New York in the summer. Fire Island is really fun to visit. Montauk. The Hamptons are beautiful, of course. I went tubing last summer on the Delaware River. That was really cool. I'd love to do that again."
Any favorite places to shop?
"Oh, too many! Rag & Bone, A.P.C. I always make sure to go to Urban Outfitters. It's deadly shopping here."
What music are you listening to this summer?
"I've been listening to Feist's album, Metals, a lot. And a lot of Florence + the Machine. I love female singers and songwriters."
What about movies? You were in one of the biggest movies of last summer. Are there any upcoming films you're really looking forward to see?
"It's not a new movie, but Thelma and Louise. I've seen it so many times, but if it's on the television, I can't resist. I love it."

Let's talk beauty. Do you have any tips for the summer?
"Carry deodorant with you! That's a good idea, isn't it? It's so muggy out! You have to smell nice."
Any favorite perfumes?
"I love the Marc Jacobs one, Lola. That's really pretty."
