Sacai’s Spring Summer 2011 Collection Makes Us Weak At The Knees

When we flicked through Sacai's spring '11 collection, we went weak at the knees. The collection is designed by Chitose Abe, who earned her fashion stripes working with Junya Watanabe at Commes des Garcons (if that's not intense training, we don't know what is!). This season, Sacai re-imagines classic silhouettes to create pieces that we can't get out of our heads. Abe revels in juxtaposing incongruous fabrics—pairing stiff cotton twill with diaphonous chiffons and tulles to produce pieces that skilfully balance femininity and utility. From a plaid dress with peek-a-boo chiffon pleats to an almond top with elaborate red fringing, Sacai's spring range is full of embellishments that are both eminently wearable and anything but typical. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're off to figure out just how we can get our hands on the entire collection!
