Probably The Prettiest Way To Wear Perfume

Scented jewelry, in theory, sounds awesome, but in practice we've always felt the results tended to look a bit cheesy. That's because the majority of the products out there are more focused on the perfume delivery system rather than how the jewelry actually looks. Helpful hint: Adding a scent component does not make an ugly necklace less ugly. #justsayin

This is definitely not the case with Kilian Hennessy's new fragrant jewelry collection. The ultra-luxe, premium pieces are ones we'd wear in a heartbeat — that they're delicately laced with our favorite Kilian scents is just icing on the cake.

The collection is divided into women's and men's: The Jewels of L’Oeuvre Noire and The Leathers of L’Oeuvre Noire. Each piece was designed by Kilian himself, and, for the most part, they're reusable.

The Leathers are four bracelets made of a supple, you guessed it, leather — produced by the same French tannery that supplies leather to the major luxury brands — and are infused with micro-encapsulated fragrance that will hold its scent for up to one year. The Jewels are available in rhodium and gold and have two different delivery systems. The Onyx Beaded Tassel Necklace features a silk cord with micro-encapsulated fragrance, while the Chain Tassel, Silk Tassel, and Locket all contain a removable ceramic disk that is coated in scent. The silk cord can be replaced yearly, while the ceramic disks can be taken out and re-sprayed whenever you wish to refresh the scent.

While Kilian may be a fragrance brand, the focus here is clearly on the jewelry itself, which feels artisan and bespoke rather than mass-produced and hokey. Sure, they cost a pretty penny, but think of them as a two-for-one deal: gorgeous little luxuries that make a statement both visual and olfactive.
