Shipley & Halmos Ditch the Runway Show For Something Fresh, Clean, and Casual

We won't lie: When 8 p.m. rolled around last Saturday night and our evil platforms were staging a mutiny, we were more than happy to cap off the very long day with a frosty PBR at Shipley & Halmos. For one, Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos are uncommonly pleasant, fun, smart, and definitely designers to watch. Second, they're clothes are everything we love in a label: refreshing, refined, and ripe with possibilities. Skipping the trad runway show in favor of a spare film loop, we didn't quite get the full fix of what we they were up to for spring/summer. But these latest lookbook shots certainly help. Long short-sleeved tux jackets (ding! ding! ding!), elegantly draped anoraks, graphic trousers, and one long completely irresistible black dress top our list for women, while the guys get more of the tapered pants, tailored leather, and retro-chic button-downs and knits the brand is becoming known for. For spring, there are no great departures, but given their intuitive knack for luxurious, slightly askew basics, we weren't really wanting one. So there.
