Remember the Dutch cyclist who was detained by a cop for wearing a short skirt? Well, there's no way New Yorker would take that, err, sitting down, as evidenced by last night's "Short Skirt Celebration Ride" that started at Columbus Circle. While the protest didn't draw as many bikers as expected, according to Gothamist , "The hardy group that showed up was cheery and vocal" with lots of short skirts. The riders put the pedal to the metal for over two miles, flashing flesh to pedestrians in the Broadway bike lane. The police did nothing, which in this case, makes a lot of sense.
