Considering how intense the San Francisco real estate market is right now, opting for a smaller space is sometimes the only option renters have. If you ask us, there's something kind of charming and efficient about clearing out the clutter, channeling your inner organizer, and maximizing floor space. It finally gives you a reason to toss out all those boxes of old bric-a-brac that have been collecting dust for years.
But, it's no easy feat to squeeze into a small space with style — you can't just raid The Container Store and call it a day. Curbed S.F. caught up with Catie Neinaber, who not only makes her Hayes Valley place look 500 times bigger than it is, but has also designed it so that every nook of space is tastefully maximized — making it great inspiration for those of us struggling to decorate our postage stamp-sized spots. Neinaber has about 400 square feet to work with (including closets), and somehow manages to store items for her business, Dronning Vintage, in the apartment, too.
With space-saving tricks like turning her walk-in closet into a sleeping nook, and strategically placing canvas bins for storage, this adorable apartment brims with style and elbow room. You can see the gorgeous pad (and read her decorating tips) over at Curbed S.F. Can we move in?
