We all know by now that it's important to wear sunscreen all year, but the shorts and tank tops of summer mean this is the time to start ramping up your protection. But, how much do you actually need? The Huffington Post chatted with an expert to get the scoop.
Cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Dina Strachan says the typical anecdote of a shot-glass-size amount for each part of your body still applies, but that measurement is actually for a 155-pound man. So, depending on where you fall on that spectrum, more or less may have to be used. Not sure what that means for you? When in doubt, just add more sunscreen — it's better to be overprotected than underprotected in this scenario. As always, make sure you're slathering on the product wherever there is exposed skin. Your face should be getting about an extra quarter-size dose of sunscreen in addition to what you put on your body. Strachan's got even more important tips, so click over to The Huffington Post and get schooled. (The Huffington Post)
