Spread The Love: Target Wedding-Registry Ad Features Two Grooms

Target's latest ads are getting some serious attention right now, being majorly embraced by LGBT bloggers. Why, you ask? Well, the two grooms center stage might have something to do with it. Accompanied by the slogan, “That’s Love,” it seems Target is the latest retailer to jump on the ‘yes, we’re down with gay marriage’ bandwagon, following JCPenney and Gap, both of which launched their same-sex campaigns a couple months back.
The big-box retailer risked attacks from their most conservative shoppers as it supported the civil rights movement, debuting a wedding-registry campaign encouraging couples to seek a registry as unique as they are. The ad in question shows suited-up grooms-to-be— hands clasped, smiles shared, top-to-toe in Target— with the tagline “Be Yourself, Be Together.”

Earlier this week, Gawker shared the fact that gay marriage brought over $259 million to New York this year alone, with all the multicolored festivities and same-sex marriage ceremonies taking place. While it's possible that retailers also have dollar signs in their eyes, we're just thrilled to see a very long-overdue and loving show of support. What's your take on the newest wedding-registry ad on the block? (Advocate)
