While the matching romantic couples trend may be one the U.S. is not quite ready for, matching with your best buds has been popular for as long as we can remember. Just look at The Plastics, Clueless, or those photos from college when you and all your friends went through an embellished-jeans-and-side-bangs phase. Together. BFFs Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss also seem to have that kind of effect on each other.
In the latest look from a Taylor-and-Karlie hang, the two coordinated subtly in outfits that went heavy on autumnal checks. But, each took an approach all her own. In classic Swift style, Taylor demonstrated a more demure way of donning the seasonal print: in a neutral-toned, oversized blazer that can be easily tossed over any ensemble. She paired it with an LBD that just barely peeked out under the hem of her lengthy coat, and showed off the tiny polka dots of her tights.
Karlie, however, took a more relaxed approach, wearing her checks in the form of a boldly colorblocked, plaid button-down. To complete her casual, girl-next-door style, the model chose a simple pair of high-waisted skinnies and Chucks — a major departure from her style buddy's Louboutins.
We'll never know for sure whether Taylor and Karlie intended their chic, subtle coordination, or even consulted each other on their matching blonde, mid-length bobs. But, matchy trend or no matchy trend, their style sensibilities make them two peas in a plaid-print pod.
