UPDATE: Taylor Tomasi Hill Eyed For Barneys’ Fashion Director Position

Yesterday we reported that Taylor Tomasi Hill was a strong contender for Julie Gilhart's former job (see below). Last night, however, we received an email from a Barneys' spokesperson, probably due to our "speculation." Here it is in its' entirety:
"As announced by Barneys New York on November 29th, the search for a new Fashion Director was launched by Daniella Vitale, Chief Merchant and Executive Vice-President, who joined the company on December 1st. Contrary to recent speculative reports, no employment offer has been made as of this date to any person for the Fashion Director position."

Rumor Has It ain't just a mediocre comedy starring Jennifer Aniston—today we heard in
WWD
that Taylor Tomasi Hill is on Barneys' CEO Mark Lee's short-list of candidates to be the new Barneys New York fashion director, a position left open by the rather shocking departure (there's a whole lot of was she or wasn't she talk) of long-time BNY alum Julie Gilhart. Previously an accessories editor for Teen Vogue, TTH is currently rocking it as Marie Claire's style and accessories director, a slightly unusual place from which to jump into the buying realm. New chief executive Mark Lee had eyed Vogue's Virginia Smith and Sarah Ruston from Lane Crawford, but both reportedly weren't into the move. We think Tomasi-Hill—who landed in our Fashion 50 at a very commendable #20—would certainly inject some fresh POV into the department store. Err maybe too much—with her street-style fame, cult-like following and evident home-decorating skills, our wallets might be too scared to ever push through those revolving doors again.
