Spend An 826LA Weekend With Dave Eggers And Spike Jonze

826 LA has long been one our favorite organizations in town. Not only are they responsible for two of the city's brightest literacy and tutoring centers, but also they know how to throw events that get the City of Angels partying for a cause. This weekend there are two events that we wouldn't dream about missing. First up on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. is a "A Spelling Bee For Cheaters: A Tournament of Verbal Smarts And Fraudulence" co-hosted by the creators of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds go to benefit 826LA. And after the sun sets, 826's founder Dave Eggers will join Spike Jonze for a question and answer sesh, book signing, and double book launch for their new McSweeney editions at Family Bookstore at 8:30 p.m. It's a literary-minded man or woman's dream come true, so scratch your old Saturday plans off the schedule, stat.
