Well this is pure winter wonderland awesomeness. Starting tomorrow, the Standard Hotel, that of the culture site, Boom Boom Room, and a publishing house, is opening a 3,000 square foot ice skating rink (don't worry, they didn't freeze the pool at Le Bain). Located in that huge-ass plaza near the entrance, the rink won't only feature what's sure to be the coolest crowd on skates (and instructors in custom black Roxy snow suits), like, ever, but a sick après-skate menu that's already got our stomachs growling. Look for fare like classic cheese fondue, super rich hot chocolate (with all the trimmings), and some stronger libations aka hard pear cider. We're especially big fans of the "Spike Anything" notation on the menu—we're not exactly Johnny Weir, so that'll be real handy!
The Standard, New York's Ice Rink, open all winter, 10 a.m. to 12 a.m., 7 days a week, The Standard Hotel, 848 Washington (at West 13th Street); 212-645-4646 .
