With this wave of less than lovely weather, we're ready to hunker down and sip on some malty, frothy goodness. So Cal has a reputation for some of the most exciting microbrews around, and though that rep leans more towards big flavor and big hops (San Diego IPA anyone?), Belgian nuance or California inspired ingredients are also in the mix. So get your growlers ready and palettes prepped, these are some of the best beers available close to home.

Stone Brew:
If you love big, aromatic, bitey hops, then Stone Brewery's Arrogant Bastard Ale is right up your alley. Located in San Diego, this brewery is famous for it's take no prisoner's style and larger than life beers. Tours are available all week long, but make sure to show up early! The tours get filled up really fast.

The Bruery:
For balanced, nuanced beer, the Belgian style by way of California ales at The Bruery are not to be missed. Wonderful paired with cheese, bbq, or whatever else you put it next to, these beers are a foodies dream. Swing by on the weekend for some food truck action at their tasting room, and bring home growlers of their small batch brews you can't get anywhere else. And don't leave without trying Mischief or Saison Rue, two very different, but very delicious beers.

Telegraph Brewing:
Utilizing the best of California ingredients, Telegraph's popular beers strive to reflect the traditions of the Santa Barbara region. Its flagship beer, Telegraph California Ale, throwback to the farmhouse ales that were commonly brewed up and down the West Coast in the 19th century. Subtly tart, spicy and earthy, it's a delicious beer departure in wine country.
