It's been a week of saying goodbye to favorites. First we got notice that Jane Mayle will be shuttering her line and store come January (sniff, sniff). Then we heard that Oak in the Slope will be closing as well (at least we get to keep their other locations. Now we hear tell that Lisa Levine, the maker of one of our favorite jewelry lines will be leaving fashion for other pursuits. It's like a warzone out there.
Well, not really. Mayle is closing at the height of her retail strength, Oak is simply expanding in other directions, and the lovely Levine is skipping design to follow her many passions—physical therapy included. What, you didn't know? As she said in an email to customers, pr reps, and editorial alike, Thank you, thank you, thank you… Please don't be sad! With each door that closes another one opens and there are some exciting developments on the horizon." She leaves enough room for a return to fashion, but if not, we'll miss her pretty wares and her presence in the scene. We wish her all the best and we'll be first in line for a spinal adjustment when the time comes. Oh, and yes, she will be having a closeout sale in her store and on her site with 25 to 75 percent off her designs. Swoop in you vultures.
