This Is Our Jam: Cut Copy, “Need You Now”

Life can seem like a never ending checklist of responsibilities and obligations. I feel like weeks go by without a chance to take to take a breath, let alone a vacation. Yet finding someone to experience this whirlwind with can be the difference between chaos and contentment. Cut Copy’s “Need You Now” is more than an escapist party song for those times when you do get a chance to kick back. The band employs their now perfectly honed indie-house sensibilities to allow the song to grow from minimal beginnings to a peak bursting in a full-blown dance party release. The effect is that when the song is over, you feel like you have found just such a person. Bonus: the video is fun and has athletes wielding medieval weapons, so there’s that too.
