Get To Know Our Four Favorite Stylists of the Moment

Like any God-given talent, some people are just a little more blessed in the getting-dressed department than others. Take these four fashion stylists: Women we spot during Fashion Week or eye-ball in the credits of our favorite designers' lookbooks and think, geez…we never knew a plain pair of slim trousers could look that good. Making fashion magic seems to come naturally to each of them, whether they're styling the latest lass of the moment or themselves. So, even though we already love them, we decided we wanted to know more about their clients and their closets—consider it your mini stylist manifesto of the moment!

"Effortless Chic."
Who are your clients? Shows you've recently styled, etc.
"Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kim Gordon, Beck, Coco Sumner, Uma Thurman."
Any dream clients?
"Anyone Kate & Laura of Rodarte dress for red carpet, Cate Blanchett, Patti Smith, Daphne Guinness."
Biggest challenge?
"Costume designing a feature film. Hours are intense and the workload can be tremendous."
Secret weapon?
"All my resources! A stylist is nothing without his or her resources. It's all about knowing where to go for the best of whatever is needed."
Which designers are you working with now?
"I recently worked with Ralph Lauren, Bespoken, Band of Outsiders, Temperley and Monica Paolini of SEA, in creating the costumes for the film Ceremony, directed by Max Winkler."
Any designers you'll always use and love?
"Band of Outsiders, BOY, Alex Wang, Ralph Lauren, Junya Watanabe, No. 6, A.P.C., Alexander McQueen, Top Shop, Anna Sheffield jewelry."
What's your uniform these days?
"Cashmere flannel by The Row, Christian Louboutin studded flats, Uniqlo, or Top Shop black jeans, Givenchy bag, Hermes Medor double-tour watch."
Most inspiring things or images you've discovered recently?
"Rodarte, Ralph Lauren, Werner Werkstatt, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Jennifer Herrema, Turner Classic Movies, Morrocco, Tokyo, Chan Marshall, Avedon, Hanna Liden & Rachel Chandler together, films of Satyajit Ray. Also Charlotte Gainsbourg...I just styled her for a record she has coming out that Beck produced. She's amazing to work with and has that je ne sais quoi quality that all French women seem to be born with."

"New York City, baby! Born and raised."
Describe your personal style in two words:
"Enjoy It."
Who are some of your clients currently?
"My editorial clients include Teen Vogue, Lula, Dossier, Glamour, Nylon, Russh, and Dazed & Confused Japan. I also styled the Bensoni presentation at New York Fashion Week and have done some free-lance consulting and styling for Adidas Originals, Target, Victoria's Secret, and Bloomingdales.com, to name a few."
Any dream clients?
"Gap."

Biggest challenge?
"Reminding myself that I can't do everything. I often find myself taking on too many projects. But i enjoy my work so its hard to take time off.
Secret weapon?
"Books and friends…and double-sided tape."
Most inspiring things or images you've discovered recently?
"My mom."
Which designers are you working with now?
"I am equally passionate about mass-market, high-end, and vintage fashion so I use a bit of it all. It's how we dress and its how women like to see clothes these days."
Any designers you'll always use and love?
"See above."
What's your uniform these days?
"Simplicity! But simplicity to me doesn't mean only white shirts and jeans. My dries Van Noten metallic cardigan says 'simplicity' to me because I can wear it with anything and in any situation. Same goes for my red Norma Kamali penny loafers. I think people are spending less these days but spending smarter, which I am grateful for. I don't want excess in my wardrobe. I want special things that will move from season to season regardless of what's on trend."

Describe your style in two words:
"Playfully Grunge."
Who are your clients or what projects are you currently working on?
"I styled the Nicholas K show this past season. I'm also a photographer and I've had shoots recently in Purple shot by Hannah Liden two stories I shot for Japan Figaro."
Any dream clients?
"Ones that want to use me to shoot stories for them in breath-taking locations around the world!"
Biggest challenge?
"Getting people used to the idea that I'm a photographer as well as a stylist."

Secret weapon?
"I'm very low maintenance."
Most inspiring things or images you've discovered recently?
"Right now, I'm totally in love with the style of Juliette Binoche's character in Blue. So chic and simple."
Any designers you'll always use and love?
"Gosh, I don't know if I will always use any one designer, it depends on the story, whatever is relevant, I suppose."
What's your uniform these days?
"I'm getting a bit bored of my army-boots-with-everything-uniform, so I am officially looking around for my next obsession!"

"Romantic Tomboy."

"The ones I have are a dream to work with."
Biggest challenge on set or in your own closet…
"Just trying to stay sane."
Secret weapon?
"Rebecca Guinness, her cousins Mary Charteris and Alice Helme, and Agata Belcen…I don't like to work without any of them…ever."
Most inspiring things or images you've discovered recently?
"I finally saw the Madonna del Parto this summer and have been obsessed with that Piero della Francesca blue. Otherwise, Charis Wilson; Diane Lane in Ladies and Gentleman, The Fabulous Stains, Glenda Jackson in the Romantic Englishwoman, Anna Karina in everything, and Tinkerbell."

"Scott Sternberg of Band of Outsiders, Jason Wu, and Lela Rose."
Any designers you'll always use and love?
"Always love Junya Watanabe, Marc Jacobs, and Balenciaga."

"A.P.C striped sweater, Band of Outsiders trench, Acne jeans, Repetto ballet flats."
