Two Bad-Ass Block Parties For Some Hellish Hangovers

weekend-block-parties
It's the dog days of summer and what better way to beat the heat (with a stick? a cane? a ruler?) than with a gaggle of block parties spanning NYC's boroughs. We're inviting you to two of the weekend's raddest block parties chock full of delicious food, rockin' music, and of course, thirst-quenching booze. They both have their own unique flavor, so be our guest and decide which street 'fest most suits your style. We'll be cozying up to the hard lemonade all day long.
Ohio Block Party—We aren't quite sure what this block party has to do with the state, but everyone, from die-hard Cavaliers fans to those who can't put Ohio on a map, are invited to drink and be merry at this free block party. $4 will buy you a shot of whiskey, a Colt 45, or a PBR, from 10 to midnight. Did we mention it's in Brooklyn? Surprise, surprise.
Saturday, August 7. Public Assembly, 70 North 6th Street (between Kent and Wythe avenues); 718-384-4586.
Diesel and Mad Decent Block Party—This weekend, Diesel and Mad Decent's traveling block party arrives in NYC and is taking up shop at Manhattan's South Street Seaport. To warm things up, Diesel is hosting a pre-party at the Diesel Denim Gallery, where customers can pick up free drinks and "Diesel Dollars" to gain VIP access, buy Mad Decent merch, and custom airhorns (don't ask). Sick performers at the block party like Maluca, Bosco Delrey, and Po Po make for a day of dancing, eating, face painting, and even a dunk (uh, drunk) tank.
Pre-party: Friday, August 6, from 5 to 9p.m. Diesel Denim Gallery, 68 Greene Street (between Broome and Spring streets), 212-966-5593; Block Party: Saturday, August 7, from 1 to 8 p.m. South Street Seaport, Pier 17 (where Fulton Street meets the East River).
