One of L.A.'s favorite eateries is officially open for business right here in San Francisco! The popular Umami Burger, which infuses basic burger ingredients with a little Japanese flare, is now up and running on Union Street (at Filmore). Aside from tasting the import's unique fare (think truffle burgers, cheddar tots, and tempura-battered onion rings, to name a few), be sure to observe your surroundings. According to Umami founder Adam Fleischman (who was interviewed by Eater SF), the space was designed to resemble a Japanese warrior's house, complete with a wrap-around bar, a "samurai" seating section, a sword acting as a centerpiece in the entryway, and more. Still not reason enough for you to travel to the divisive Marina 'hood? Not to worry. The burger chain has its sights set on the Mission and Oakland, next. For a virtual tour of the space, which we visited last night, head over here.
