Four Terrific S.F. Events You Need To Hit Up!

laurenwolf
After a really busy week we sometimes look at our planners and realize we haven’t penciled in any time for some fun. Feel the same way? Well, don’t trip, ‘cause we have four upcoming events for you to make sure your weekend doesn’t become a weakend (har har). Grab your calendars and mark these babies down in ink, folks, because we guarantee you won’t want to skip ‘em!

Esqueleto Anniversary Party

A trip to Esqueleto ranks high on our list of fave things to do. It’s located in Oakland’s getting-more-awesome-by-the-day Temescal district — plus the bauble boutique has now officially been in business for a year (and wants to celebrate)! To mark the occasion, the shop will be carefully curating a collection of art, objects, and jewelry with a shindig reminiscent of its First Friday fetes, only bigger and more bountiful (a.k.a more food, more drinks, and more fun!). The store will also be displaying a new gallery show for your viewing pleasure. Count us in!

When: Friday, August 3, 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Esqueleto, 482 49th Street (between Clarke Street and Telegraph Avenue), Oakland; 510-629-6216.

The Bold Italic Pop Up Shop At Voyager

The Bold Italic has so much love for Bay Area artisans that it opened an e-store to give you access to its all-time fave items. And while we love the ease of shopping online, we’d never turn down a chance to experience a retailer in reality. That’s why when we heard that The Bold Italic was partnering with Valencia Street’s Voyager for a pop-up and party, we knew we had to share the deets with you. Not only will the shop be slingin’ free beer, but you’ll be able to get your hands on S.F.-designed merch like jewelry from Salty Fox, posters and prints from Drywell, notecards by Hello! Lucky, and SO much more. Make sure you RSVP ASAP for this bold bash.

When: Friday August 3, 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Voyager, 365 Valencia Street (between 14th and 15th streets); 415-779-2712.

Cost: Free with RSVP

Love & Luxe Presents Dexterity

Love & Luxe, the Mission’s own jewelry-atelier-meets-art-gallery, has got your Saturday on lock. From afternoon until nightfall the shop will be keeping customers entertained with a Johnny Ninos trunk show as well as an opening reception for kinetic works by John Biggs and paintings by Jose Arenas. Since Ninos’ jewelry is full of artistic flair (and ready to wear), John Biggs is part film-industry robot creator and part creative genius, and Bay Area native Jose Arenas has an amazing reputation both near and far, we can assure you this event is going to start your August off on the right track!

When: Saturday, August 4, 3 to 10 p.m.

Where: Love & Luxe, 1169 Valencia Street (between 22nd and 23rd streets); 415-648-7781.

Park and Pond’s First Birthday

For a year, North Beach shop Park and Pond’s central focus has been locally made goods. Its shelves are stocked with nothing less than the best bath and body buys, abode accessories, and other amazing items (all produced in a 100-mile radius of the store). To celebrate its big birthday, the boutique is delivering deals of 10% off all art and free totes with every $100 purchase. And, just to make us even giddier, tonight's shindig will have a DJ, a photo booth, free food, and free beer from local brewer Sonnenbrau. This is one party we can’t wait to dive into!

When: Friday, August 3, 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Park and Pond, 1422 Grant Avenue (at Green Street), San Francisco; 415-217-8864.
