Designer Jen Kao only launched her high-end label a year ago, and in that short time, the Taiwanese Japanese-raised Kao has fast become one to watch. Nowhere is this more apparent then in her spring/summer collection. Steeped in white and buoyed by shots of steel gray and deep blue, each piece seems to be a work of art unto itself (she is a mistress of the details). Her cut-out body-suits, sheer but hard-edged mini-dresses, and industrial side-zipped jackets recall an early Helmut Lang or even a more feminine touch of Rick Owens. Regardless, there's no question Kao is an original, and this collection sure proves it.
