Sunday is International Women’s Day, so we thought we’d take this opportunity to highlight the top female artists on Spotify.
The most powerful (read: most streamed) woman of all time based on listens around the globe is Rihanna. And, in celebration of her unrelenting radness, we should point out that
RiRi’s infectious Kanye/McCartney collab, “FourFiveSeconds” is taking off.
Katy Perry, who saw a nice bump in streams after her recent Superbowl extravaganza, roars in second place, followed by Beyoncé, whose “Drunk In Love” is the singer’s hands-down
most popular song, according to our (sober in love) listeners.
Lana Del Rey is Spotify’s fourth most-streamed global goddess, but if we were only counting U.S. listeners, she’d be on top. (If you haven’t already, check out Lana’s melancholy
track “Ultraviolence” transformed into a total club jam: Lana
Del Rey – Ultraviolence - Hook N Sling Remix).
Rounding out the top ten, in order: Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Ellie Goulding (her 50 Shades song “Love Me Like You Do” is our most streamed track at the mo!), Taylor
Swift, and Lorde.
Do things look different if we break down the gender of the listeners? Why, yes! Queen Bey is the all-time, most streamed female artist
by female listeners around the world, while male listeners
hold Katy Perry up as their top choice.
