Women’s Movement: YMC Finally Breaks for Girls

ymc_women1
As successful and stylish as their menswear collection has been, British company YMC (You Must Create) has been missing something…we can't remember…hmm…oh yeah, womenswear! Similar in aesthetic and level of quality, the girls' collection from YMC features long-term staples with more elaborate pieces, such as biker jackets, Fair Isle knitwear, and pleated coats.

Inspired by films like Westside Story and The Outsiders, country singer Patsy Cline and 50s bombshell Jayne Mansfield, the long-awaited women's collection also inherits a lot from YMC's menswear. Started by Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins in 1995, the brand appears untouched seasonal caprices, trading trendy touches for high-quality materials—silk crepe, rabbit, merino wool, and Japanese selvedge denim. Now, ladies will no longer have to scoop up all the men's XSs in YMC's signature-fitted cardigans. Though, to be honest, we didn't really mind playing in the boy's section.
