Of course we all remember actress Farrah Fawcett's iconic red bathing suit from her famed blanket poster, and now it's literally going down in history. Actor Ryan O'Neal, Farrah Fawcett's longtime companion, presented the swimsuit along with other memorabilia to the museum today, saying that the actress had always planned to donate the item. The suit has no doubt figured in many a Baby Boomer teen's overheated imagination, which was worn by a beaming Farrah in a poster that was first released in 1976 and has since sold more than six million copies, making Farrah a 1970s sex icon, and the Trikilis brothers, who published the poster, multimillionaires. If your dad suddenly wants to visit the Smithsonian, you know why. (LAist)
