Brooding But Enchanting Is the Mood at Yigal Azrouël

At the Yigal Azrouël f/w show, we caught up with Olivier Zahm, and inquired about his latest DVF/Margiela Purple cover. Why was he drawn to the blonde wig coat? "I think it is... hysterical. It is totally hysterical," he said with a grin, as Yigal-clad Waris came up to the editor and the two exchanged a serious man hug. Also front row was Genevieve Jones, sporting a Dolce & Gabbana frock and her own gold, safety pin-inspired earrings, who said she was at the show to support her friend Pamela Love, the designer of the African-inspired jewelry pieces for Yigal's f/w collection. When we asked Pamela about her outfit, she laughed, "I'm wearing Yigal pants, the rest is crap." Well if that's true of a vintage Black Flag tee, a vegan leather jacket, and hoards of her own fantastic jewelry, then we say crap is the new black! The show, styled by Kate Young, featured girls that seemed a bit brooding, but all enchanting, in smoky eye makeup in a tough, yet coy attitude. Bold silhouettes paired with feminine details, ruled the show, and our top three favorite pieces included a geometric jacquard coat, a purple one-sleeved party dress, and a black Heishi beaded bolero. Loved.
