And now for something a little more serious…"A period of reflection" was the theme of Zero + Maria Cornejo's collection, a visual evolution honoring the past decade of shape, color, texture, geometry, and shimmer in her designs. The collection was a deconstructed facsimile of her signature styles, pieced back together with a softer, curved, more refined silhouette as evidenced by the sexy minimalism in a hooded trench and the femininity of cropped cocoon shrugs. But fear not—Cornejo isn't even close to losing her edge. "The older I get, the more trust I put in my instincts…no one actually needs to buy clothes anymore, so you must present a collection that stands for something and has integrity," Cornejo said backstage.
