Rapidly rising local company DODOcase, the maker of e-reader carriers using old-school bookbinding methods, can now add a J.Crew collaboration to its growing list of accomplishments. This weekend, the S.F.-based brand debuted two spiffy new cases, exclusively for the J.Crew customer. The cases—one in a light-gray hue accented by a navy interior, the other with a navy exterior and a bright-orange lining—fit the iPad2 and are sold on jcrew.com for $79.95 a pop. “The high-tech combined with traditional bookbinding makes the DODOcase so special,” Frank Muytjens, J.Crew’s head of men’s design, said in a statement. “Even the DODOcase label on the inside cover reminds me of an 'ex libris' sticker I used as a kid to identify my books.” The DODO guys are, of course, similarly psyched. “We are huge supporters of businesses that think and act different, such as J.Crew,” says Craig Dalton, DODO’s president and co-founder, “And are proud that DODOcase's product integrity, design, and craftsmanship allowed us to be chosen as one of their brand partners." Lookout for some DODOcase love inside J.Crew’s August catalog, which should be arriving in your mailbox in the very near future.
