What To Wear To Miami’s 3 Hottest New Restaurants

If there’s one thing we live for in Miami (besides our championship-winning Heat, obvs), it is the opening of a new restaurant. Since anyone who is anyone has an outpost in the 305, we've got plenty to choose from, but with so many different cuisines, it’s hard to determine what to wear. Surely, a French beret wouldn’t work in a Robata grill, just like a kimono wouldn’t work in a Southern grill (Note: Do we even own a kimono? Doubtful). But we've got you; here are three spankin’ new restaurants that are bringing some serious culture shock to the city and providing three very separate (but deliciously equal) dining experiences. Check out what you should wear to the freshly opened Dominique French Bistro, Georgia’s Union and Katsuya in the SLS Hotel.

About time Miami said bon jour to some fine French dining, which seems to be having a culinary renaissance in our city. So make like Amelié at Dominique Bistro and feel romantic, as the food is as delicious as the ambiance is sweet. We’ve fallen in love with the space — a French country home meets a modern Miami glam pod.

Keep your palate classy with some Terrine de Foie Gras Classique, steak-frites, and a rich fondant au chocolate (that’s a steamin’ lava cake, for those who don't parlez) to finish it off. Best of all, when the weekend hits, Dominique transforms into a lounge, spinning the hottest French electro beats and hosting some pretty posh fêtes.

So when you go, try an outfit that conveys a refined Right Bank look with a hint — or a whole lot — of seduction. Choose a flirty top with a pleated skirt and some dainty heels to channel both romance and poise (two things the French have in spades). Top it off with romantic accessories like charm bracelets and a simple, chic clutch. You may not be in the City of Lights, but with a flirty look and a glass of rosé, you'll certainly feel transported.

Just when we thought Miami was inching away from raw fish trend, in comes Katsuya to school our already oceanic culture on some fine Asian dining, as rendered by Miami favorite Philippe Starck. Located in the brand new SLS hotel, Katsuya boasts all the elegant simplicity of Japan, in both aesthetic and its classic dishes: crispy rice with spicy tuna and miso-marinated black cod are more traditional than nuevo sushi. As this is one of the hottest new openings of the year, be prepared to shell out — but you wouldn't have made reservations if painting the town red was not a part of your agenda.

Katsuya, like the sleek Frenchman who designed it, is sharp, edgy, and dramatic. So pull out some geometric pieces and stack 'em, making sure you've got the punch while staying minimal. Up the intensity with some leather garments, blocky statement shoes, and a bold red lip. Then casually drop that, as the jet-setter you are, you've been to all Katuyas, but this one is definitely the best.

Temporarily ditch your Miami swankiness (not to mention your summer diet) and head on over to Georgia’s Union, a secret down home-gem of culinary delight. With all the Southern charm and comfort of the Dixie states, you'll remember that Georgia is indeed our closest neighbor. This is a perfect spot when you've got a hankering for some sweet corn hush puppies, fried green tomatoes (yes, seriously) or classic pecan pie — it's what is now called "organic soul," rib-sticking food that comes from the good green earth.

The shabby chic décor makes it the perfect spot to catch up with the girls over pitchers of tequila-infused lemonade, but maybe ditch this as a first date spot with all the cute country charm...lest you want him to think you’ve walked right out of Steel Magnolias.
