Some things are worth waiting for, and Lover's show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week is definitely one of them. Returning to the catwalk after a five-year hiatus, designers Susien Chong and Nic Briand celebrated a decade of Lover by creating a breathtaking collection that was matched only by the majestic setting of the Sydney Opera House. Entitled "White Serpent," Lover's tenth collection paid homage to the label's past with dream-worthy delicate lace dresses. A menswear influence, evident in expertly tailored tuxedo jackets and trousers with cummerbund-like waists, looked to the future. Lover's pieces have long played upon a dichotomy of innocence and sexuality that has won the label diehard devotees including Alexa Chung and Clémence Poésy. With cheeky, sheer fabrics and an injection of heart-jolting red to a refined palette of black and ivory, Chong and Briand took their expression of complex femininity to a new level. There's no doubt about it, our love affair with Lover has turned into an epic romance!
